Join us for a new edition of On Location, in which we visit fine art embroiderer Richard Saja in his Catskill, NY, studio. Richard’s work is a kind of meditat...ion in which time evaporates in a blur of color and stitching. He transforms classical mediumstoile fabrics and tapestrieswith what he refers to as historical inaccuracy. Surrounded by a rainbow palette of embroidery floss, he takes a coloring book approach to pastoral scenes. They emerge infused with contemporary issues and cultural memes that celebrate difference and encourage tolerance.
