It's swarm season. If you see a swarm of bees, CALL ME. I'd love to put them in my bee yard and let them go to work over here. Lots of yummy pollen all season long. So I went out looking around the farm today, and took the DSLR along. It was grey and overcast, but I wanted to see what's blooming. I didn't see any swarms, but I did see some other lovelies out there.

We are all connected. #LeaveLeaves
Check out this beauty.
We're hard at work in the vegetable garden.
Some 98% of the country's beehives contaminated by at least six different pesticides, but new research shows that treating them with a particular enzyme protects the prized pollinators from many of them. Here & Now
Here's an English bee. They buzz with an accent, you know :) It's from the nursery of my boyhood bestie, Neil Lees, from Oaktree Wildlife in the UK.
Here come the girls! This is in front of my house, up the hill from Jack's Bee Yard. This lovely lady is one of the first to make it up the hill.... Play it in headphones. I have that lovely sound all around me as I work outside. I'm so grateful.
The first hive inspection of the year. New bees were added a week ago, and this is what I saw when I went up to the hive to have a look inside. Those are some happy looking girls.
great advice here
Hello my pretties. You're the first of the season.
A hole was dug and an old cast iron bathtub buried today, in the hope that it will soon be populated with lots of toads. The spot chosen already has a little wetness and I've seen many toads there over the years, so I just want t help them out a little. And a bee watering station will be added, too, of course.
This is why we don't rake and mow until May
Happy New Year, everyone.
Blue bees.... absolutely gorgeous. If all our bees were blue, would we think the golden ones are gorgeous? Well, actually, I do, and so will you if you hang out at Love Shack next season. See you in the Spring.... (thank you, Jane, for forwarding this interesting post.)
Click on this just for the incredible picture. And stick around for the article. Bees are truly fascinating.
This is pretty cool. Bees on top of a police precinct in New York City.
