Buffalo Underdogs currently has eleven dogs under heartworm treatments. We also recently had two Buffalo area dogs become positive. Each year, heartworm is becoming more of an issue in our area which is why we will always recommend keeping our patients on prevention year round along with flea and tick prevention.
Our April Pet of the Month is Murphy Green! Murphy is a sweet 1 year old pitbull/hound mix! He was brought up from Texas with the Buffalo Underdogs after being hit by a car and abandoned. Once he came to Buffalo, Murphy met his foster parents who quickly fell in love with him and decided to keep him forever. After being hit, Murphy had a damaged front leg, which needed amputation. He is now happily living as a Tripawd!... Murphy loves playing tug of war, going on walks, playing with other dogs and stealing all of the snacks that he can reach. He is now living his best life here! Special thanks to Dr. Diaz and the amazing staff at Lancaster Small Animal Hospital!
Happy Doctors Day Dr. Fetzner, Dr. Sardina, and Dr. Diaz! Thank you for everything you do to help provide the best care to our patients. Your compassion and hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you for being our superhero’s!

It all begins with a smile and a greeting on World Hello Day.
While Halloween may look a little different this year thanks to COVID, pet parents may still find themselves (and their kids) under mountains of chocolates and sweets. Here are some tips, tricks, and treats for making Halloween 2020 with your pet Spooktacular!
Thank you to our wonderful clients who continue to follow our curbside protocol and have patience during this time!
Surprise puppies! Momma Faith went into labor earlier than expected and we successfully retrieved all five of her puppies!
We were SPOILED last week for vet tech week, and we couldn’t thank all of our doctors, clients, and Buffalo Underdogs Rescue enough for helping us celebrate our staff!
Thanksgiving is here soon and so are those tasty parts of the thanksgiving meal that are dangerous for our furry friends to eat. Remember to avoid feeding the following to your pets to prevent any stomach upset and potential poisoning.
Some of you may have noticed a new face here at LSAH the past two months! Lorissa is our new receptionist and veterinary assistant. We are very thankful for the hard work she has been doing, especially with the added craziness of COVID. Please help us in welcoming Lorissa to our LSAH family!
Our Veterinary Technicians are the backbone of our practice. This week is National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week, and we want everyone to know how much we value and care about these integral members of our clinic! We would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to our team!
Thank you Buffalo Underdogs Rescue for the lovely goodie bag for Vet Tech Week!
This week we wanted to show our appreciation for not only our technicians, but also our hardworking receptionists and assistants. 2020 has brought many changes with the coronavirus and we would not have gotten through this without them! Between high volumes of phone calls, appointments, and cleaning - they have been doing all they can to get every patients needs while keeping every one safe and following protocols. Please help us show our appreciation by sending an extra thanks to Maria, Jaime, Lorissa, Erin, and Sarah!
Vet techs are versatile and highly-trained experts. Compared to human medicine, a vet tech can serve as a laboratory technician, a respiratory therapist, a dietician, a nurse, a radiation tech, an anesthesiologist, and a physical therapist in a single role. Although veterinarian offices can’t function without the contributions of vet techs, their contributions to pet healthcare are often underestimated. To celebrate these essential employees, Vet Tech Appreciation Week educates pet owners and creates collegiality in veterinary clinics.
Veterinary technicians are critical to the day-to-day function of veterinary practices, and play vital roles in preserving animal health and welfare. National Veterinary Technician Week provides an opportunity to recognize veterinary technicians’ contributions. We value veterinary technicians every day of the year and thank them for all they do. During National Veterinary Technician Week, we honor their commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for all animals. Please join us October 11-17 in celebrating these important team members.
