Luchsinger's Christmas Trees 01.01.2021

Well, the feels just keep coming. Yesterday I received an Amazon package addressed to me. It didn’t match any of my (sad to report... many) orders. Upon opening it, I knew immediately who it was from... Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon. This couple had been long time customers of our, and are dog lovers. For years they brought their beloved Abbey with them. Abbey was a gorgeous black poodle and so very well behaved. After losing Abbey to old age, I feared they’d never get another dog.... Thankfully, when they came last year they had Mr. Toby in tow. Toby is an equally beautiful black poodle and ALL BOY. He’s so well behaved but mischievous as most young boys can be. Mrs. Sheldon loves Pembroke Corgis the same as we do. She told me about a book that I looked up but never purchased. Our kids are older and I figured it just wasn’t needed. Well, let me report... any corgi lover NEEDS this book. Oh my goodness... SO CUTE. So, while 2020 has been a very trying year, it’s certainly ending on a few high notes for me. Thank you again to all my amazing customers. Without you all, none of this would be possible. I truly am blessed in life because of you all.

Growing up, my father always came in the house to eat his lunch, watch the weather and listen to Paul Harvey. I used to love listening to Paul Harvey’s voice and hearing him say and that’s the rest of the story. And it seems this ring story has a rest of the story ending as well. Here is the background.... About 18 or 19 years, my boyfriend at the time (now my husband) agreed that we could get a dog of our own. As those who frequent our business know, I’m a dog person. K...ind of a dog nerd in all honesty. I was so happy he was on board with adopting a dog. My mother found an ad somewhere for a small beagle/boxer in need of a new home. I called. I explained to the current owner that I own a Christmas tree business and this time of year is pretty busy for me. She said it was urgent that the dog find a new home due to having to move out of state immediately. She agreed to bring Miss Delilah to the tree barn for me to meet her. I agreed that Delilah would be a good fit for us (let’s be honest... there was no way I was going to say no). She was left with me that moment. I had a slight panic attack because Delilah was in fact a very petite pit bull and I was afraid my boyfriend would not be happy. But it was a perfect example of asking for forgiveness vs permission. We renamed Delilah Lucy and she was the best dog ever. She lived with us for many years. We lost her to fibrosarcoma and were heart broken. She was an amazing little dog. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Fast forward to today. I receive a message from someone who saw the post about the found wedding band. She said she was the owner of Delilah and was heart broken having to give her up, but due to personal reasons, it was in Delilah’s best interest to find her a new home. She had no idea that I was the person who took Delilah/Lucy in and loved her to pieces. I sent her photos of the pocket pittie that was loved by so many. She was so happy to know that Delilah/Lucy was so loved and lived a good life. Those of my customers who have been with me for year and years will probably remember her. She was such a wonderful dog who brought us such joy. FYI, that little boy in those pictures is my son who is now 16 and works at the farm. My heart is beyond full tonight. Who would have ever thought that a found wedding band would set all this is motion? The positive power of social media. If only it was always so positive.

Wow.... the outpouring of support to reunite this ring with its owner has been amazing. Because of you all and the local media, I’m over the moon happy to report that Mr. Pond has been reunited with his ring. He and Mrs. Pond have been married for 65 years and have 5 children. ... As a thank you, Mrs. Pond gifted us with some homemade fudge that is DELICIOUS! Thank you all for your help. As cliche as it sounds, this truly was a Christmas miracle. And there’s more to this story that I’ll post later (after I dry my eyes).

UPDATE: the rightful owner of the ring just called!!! She said her husband is in his 80’s and they have been married for many, many years. I will be delivering the ring to them this afternoon. She saw the story on the news this morning. Thank you all for making this end happily! Earlier in the season a woman called and told me that her father possibly lost his wedding band here. We searched high and low and never found it. Sadly, I erased her contact info... Well, today while moving all of the Christmas tree stuff out of the barn, I FOUND THE RING! It was buried in a pile of debris and for some reason it caught my eye. Please share in hopes of finding its rightful owner. Edit: I don’t know what day the call came in and this number is used for (2) businesses so I get a LOT of calls a day. I have no way of narrowing the field down to a manageable amount of calls to be made If you know the owner, please call me at (315) 696-6856
