We opened the Luzerne Market on November 13th 1980. Today is our 40th Anniversary. This is a picture of our first ad in the Pennysaver. Today only In honor of this day we are selling Pepsi 16 ounce 6 packs for our original opening price of $1.59 (plus tax and deposit), and boiled ham in our deli for $1.89 per pound.... Don Baxter leading horse from train station in Lake Luzerne up Rt 9 to the Painted Pony. This was the start of the rodeo at the Painted Pony, 1951. Don "Wild Horse" Baxter went on to become the 1958 Florida Champion Bronc Horse Rider.
