The biggest solar storm of 2020 is happening this week! If the cloudy weather clears, this may pose an opportunity for residents of Upstate New York to see the northern lights! You are most likely to see the northern lights today, December 9th, and tomorrow, December 10th, between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am. When looking for the light show, face north, and search above the horizon for green hues.

Melanistic squirrels are rare, but encountering a black squirrel on Wellesley Island is a relatively common occurrence! Scientists predict that for every 10,000 squirrels in North America, only one of them has black fur. These melanistic squirrels are eastern gray squirrels with an abnormal pigment gene that makes their fur black. : Veronica Hayes
