Mahopac Falls Vol. Fire Department 04.07.2021

Mahopac Falls had a unique opportunity today to train students who are currently enrolled in Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services EMT class. 2nd Assistant Chief Meury, Lieutenant Dwyer and company went through numerous evolutions in regards to extricating patients involved in serious motor vehicle accidents. The roles EMT’s play in these situations is pivotal, as they are the ones who are inside the car providing patient care and relaying pertinent information to the crews operating extrication equipment. We would like to thank EMS Director Quake for the invite, it was our pleasure working with these new EMT’s and we wish them luck as their class progresses! Big thank you to Valley Towing for donating the vehicle

Don’t mind the long post but we have to get something off our chest, read to the end for a special announcement!! Back in December The Officers of MFVFD had to make an incredibly difficult choice. As everyone knows we were thrusted into the middle of the pandemic as first responders, and unfortunately one week prior to our Candy cane run some of our members were exposed to and contracted Covid-19. While keeping the safety of our members and of course the people we serve in m...ind we thought it best to cancel our favorite event of the year. This decision undoubtedly angered some, and as civil servants that is our burden to bear. Fast forward to today, over the last few months numerous officers and members have been trying to figure out how to make it up to our amazing community, and one thing kept popping up over and over again. What if we did Christmas in July?. Now that the wheels were turning we sent Captain Stasiak and a team of negotiators up to the North Pole to meet with the big guy himself. After a long discussion and a key ingredient of a large majority of Ant Hill Mob members being vaccinated, Santa agreed. Agreed to what you may be wondering?? Well he agreed to take time from his much needed vacation to come give the amazing Mahopac Falls community an early visit! On July 24th, 2021 Mahopac Falls will be ushering Santa around town to see everyone. Santa did have one stipulation though, and it was that he could wear a Hawaiian shirt as his normal attire was at the dry cleaner. We of course obliged. We are truly excited to have this unique experience with all of you! (And don’t worry this by no means takes the place of December’s normal run). So get those Christmas lists ready to give to Santa and as the event draws closer we will post Route info and times. We hope you all have a great weekend and thank you as always for all the support!

Well, Winter is here. We are expected to get hit with a major snow storm beginning on Wednesday night and going into Thursday afternoon. The NWS is predicting almost 2 feet of snow in our area, please begin preparing now so that you aren’t caught off guard. Driving will be very dangerous at the height of the storm, so please stay off the roadways and let our awesome highway departments do their thing. As always Mahopac Falls will have crews on standby for the duration of the storm to ensure we can respond in case of emergency. Our safety committee was at it again; with the picture posted below in order to help you prepare for this storm as best as possible. As always be safe and thank you for all your support.

Sunday December 7th 1941, quoted by then President Franklin Roosevelt as a date that will live in infamy in a speech he delivered the following day. On this day Japanese forces sneak attacked Pearl Harbor, a U.S. Naval station located in Honolulu Hawaii. This attack would kill over 2,000 American Soldiers, and thrust America in World War II. Today is a day that we pause and remember our military personnel and civilians who lost their lives on this infamous day, 79 years ago.

Well, our tree is lit and looks amazing! A huge thank you to Stan Zalesny and crew for another outstanding job. Now we are truly in the Christmas spirit and are very excited to announce that we have, once again, teamed up with Santa and TOYS for TOTS to collect gifts of new, unwrapped toys during the 2020 Candy Cane Run. You can hand the unwrapped toys directly to Santa and his helpers or leave them by your mailbox with a sign that says TOYS for TOTS and we will leave some ...candy canes inside your mailbox as a sign of our appreciation. Please see the posted list of routes & times for location details (they have changed for the 2020 season). * The safety of our Community, Members, and Santa are our priority and we will monitor and follow all State and County Guidelines for COVID-19. Stayed tuned on our website, Facebook page, and around town for further details/updates as we get closer to the date of our Candy Cane Run.

This year has been hard on all of us but we are excited to bring a little bit of normalcy to the residents of the Mahopac Falls Fire District. However, the Candy Cane Run will look a little different this year. Below is a glimpse of what you and your families can expect on Saturday, December 12th. - At this time, Santa & his helpers will be getting off the fire truck to spread cheer, hand out candy canes to those who wish to receive them, and collect new, unwrapped gifts fo...r TOYS for TOTS. - Everyone, including Santa will be wearing masks. We ask that you and your families do the same. - While we understand that everyone loves to take pictures with Santa, this year we ask that you take all pictures from afar and maintain a 6ft distance. - If you would like to donate a new, unwrapped gift to TOYS for TOTS, you can hand them to Santa and his helpers or leave them by your mailbox with a sign saying TOYS for TOTS. We will happily leave some candy canes in your mailbox as a token of our appreciation. As always, the safety of our Community, Members, and Santa are our priority and we will monitor and follow all State and County Guidelines for COVID-19. Stayed tuned on our website, Facebook page, and around town for further details/updates as we get closer to the date of our Candy Cane Run. Please read over the Dos and Don’ts before this Saturday.
