Since March, a surprisingly large number of New Yorkers who are my patients have left and are residing in residencies outside the city. Understandably, some have let us know that they are not feeling like making the trek to our office (especially those residing outside of the city) and will probably see a more local dentist for now. Should you choose to seek treatment elsewhere during these times, please give your new dentist my email [email protected] to keep me in the loop and discuss any treatment plans that are proposed. We've been back open for about a month now and we wanted to share a couple pictures of the changes we've made around the office to ensure your safety and ours while getting the care you need. This includes (but is not limited to) full face shields and masks for the treating staff, Medify air filtration systems in each room, window barriers at the front desk, the pre-screening questionnaire with temperature and oxygen levels taken on every single patient that walks in the door, and appropriate appointment spacing so that social distancing is maintained.

Dr. Tomack is guiding patients on what emergencies can be handled safely at home with products that can be found in the house or from your local pharmacy. Re-cementing a temporary or permanent crown can. Dr. Tomack says to take the temporary crown off and rehearse placing it back on the tooth (the crown is in the correct place if teeth come together when biting down). Next, use the open end of a paperclip to scrape out the temporary cement inside the crown. (Be sure there is no temporary cement on the tooth). Finally, squeeze a few drops of Fixodent denture adhesive into the temporary crown and re-cement it back on the tooth. Not sure what to do? We are now offering teledentistry. We wanted to reach out to our patients to let you know that we consistently take every available precaution when it comes to sterilization and infection control to help prevent the spread of the virus. If you have a fever or cough, please postpone any visit until you've been feeling better for at least two weeks. If possible, we would be grateful if you could still give us the 24 hours notice. If you are healthy, there's no need to cancel your scheduled dental appointment.... It's important to know that the majority of people infected with the coronavirus experience flu-like symptoms and then recover. Most people do not develop serious respiratory complications. Those most at risk of becoming seriously ill are elderly people and those with underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and kidney disease, among others. Children, thus far, have been largely unaffected. We wholeheartedly care about the well-being of our patients and team, and that has always been the case. We will continue to check with the CDC daily for updates and implement any additional protocols they suggest. Please also note that we will be closed March 20- March 30 for our Spring Break.
