We are getting our Holiday colors on for the most wonderful time of the year! But that also means snow, snow tires and driving more cautiously! Slow down and enjoy your holiday season!

We were honored to host the Livingston Manor Cub Scout pack 105 this evening and teach them some basic skills of bleeding control, use of a tourniquet, when to call 911, and tour our ambulance in small groups. We are always happy to work hand-in-hand with our community.

Two years ago LMVAC was standing by for a half marathon race which began near Mongaup Pond, when just after the start of the race a runner collapsed as a result of cardiac arrest. CPR was started immediately by a fellow runner, and within 2 minutes LMVAC personnel arrived to continue CPR and utilize their AED to save his life. This past weekend, Shawn and his fellow runners returned to complete a practice run followed by a presentation of a generous donation to LMVAC (membe...r Ralph Bressler pictured) so that we may continue to support our community. Without the early bystander CPR and application of an AED, there is a good chance Shawn's story would not have ended so positively. It is essential that CPR is begun within 4 minutes of a cardiac arrest otherwise cell death begins to occur. We encourage (beg) our community members to consider taking a CPR course and be prepared in case emergency strikes your family, friends or neighbors. Modified techniques such as "hands only" CPR have eliminated the need for mouth-to-mouth if that is holding you back! Reality check, Rockland! In 2010, only 44% of you filled out your Census questionnaires. That means for the past 10 years, you were under-represented by 56%. Wh...en those federal dollars are being allocated, the people of Rockland were short-changed! It takes less than 10 minutes to make sure we are completely and accurately counted! A 27.9% self response today is not good enough. What are you waiting for? #2020Census #SullivanCountyCounts #GoRockland #TownofRockland
