Marcellus NY Rotary 27.12.2020

Here is a thank you from Baltimore Woods for the contributions (dollars and labor) that we made. The video is really nice. To all our friends at the Marcellus Rotary Thank you for being a part of the initiative to help us improve accessibility to nature on our trails this year. Your willingness to not only financially contribute to this project but to join other Rotary Clubs in making it a reality through time and volunteer work made this a true community endeavor and helped... us achieve a project that we have talked about for many years. It was truly a wonderful thing to behold when volunteers came together over multiple days to transform the trails this fall. Moving and spreading stone dust is not easy work, but everyone was enthusiastic and hard-working and we have already received so many comments on what a positive improvement this is to our trail system. Here is a short video that is a small token of our appreciation for all of your efforts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpU8O4EhFGo

Thank you to Marcellus's resident pharmacist Dr. Jamie Cataldi, PharmD for coming to speak to our club and many others from District 7150 about different vaccines and the benefits of them. We had a "full house" on ZOOM we had two pages full of people. Jamie was very informative about some of the common vaccines needed in adulthood such as the Flu, Shingles, and Pneumonia. He spoke about the difference in how vaccines are developed and the effectiveness of them. We also had ma...ny questions on the new vaccine for Covid and what to expect when they are released to the public. Jamie spoke about the two main Covid vaccines up for approval by the FDA and some of the challenges of the storage and shelf life of the two vaccines. Some members listening had to decided with in a few days if they wanted to recieve the vaccine, because they worked in the health care industry. Jamie was able to answer their questions to help them make a more informed decision on what they wanted to do. Again we would like to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Jamie Cataldi, PharmD for speaking to us. This exchange was recorded if anyone would like to learn more please reach out to us. See more

Baltimore Woods and two stories. The first story - a picture of the improved trail that Marcellus Rotary in conjunction with Skaneateles Rotary and a few other clubs joined with volunteers to work on a few weeks ago. The second story - 16 years ago Marcellus Rotary joined with several other clubs, local business and Marcellus students to build the amphitheater. ... Both stories are good examples of what Rotary can do working together with other clubs and groups. Rotary District Grants allow us to do things like this.

2 more days until you can put your clubs in the car and go to Sunset Ridge for the Brud Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament. I think you are going to enjoy this end of the year golf tournament. Also looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate nicely. Will see you Saturday morning.

Ovarian Cancer, not a pleasant thing for any woman to hear. There is not a really good test for it, and many women find out that they have it when it has already progressed into stage 3 or 4. Frieda Weeks from Hope For Heather brought the message to our Marcellus Rotary Club last night. She and her husband, Gary, lost their daughter to it years ago, and they started this organization to honor her, to make women of all ages aware of the symptoms, to help families and patien...ts through the trauma of having the disease, and to collect money to support research on this disease. They also recruit men, Men of Teal, to support the group through various activities. Every woman needs to know what to look for - it is a matter of life or death. Frieda is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her cause, and we really appreciate her coming to us to make this presentation. See more
