Yoga Here and Now

Last November I completed a 75 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Koh Samui, Thailand and received my teaching certification. It was a rigorous program competently taught by Marije Paternotte and attended by yoga teachers from all parts of the globe. I have since incorporated a Yin Yoga component in some of my classes. I presently teach Yin/Yang Yoga classes in Newfane at the United Methodist Church (Mondays 6:15-7:30 p.m.) and in Williamsville at Rising Sun Yoga (Tuesday 4:...30-5:45 p.m.). I also teach a Chair Yoga class in Newfane at the Church (4:30-5:30 p.m.) and a Restorative Yoga class at Rising Sun Yoga (Tuesday 6:00-7:15 p.m.). I am also offering Warm Water Yoga classes at my home in Snyder (135 Washington Highway) by appointment only. Please note that my saltwater, heated pool is set at a minimum of 88 degrees (it is usually 90 degrees) in order to meet therapeutic standards. The class includes a half hour of land-based yoga in my home studio, followed by an hour of water-based yoga in my pool. I provide all the necessary equipment. Capris yoga pants and tankini tops are appropriate dress....unless you prefer to wear a bathing suit. Comfort is of utmost importance. 'Tis the season to enjoy the sun and your yoga practice! Last weekend was month 12 of a 17 month Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program (500 hour certification program) at the Buffalo Himalyan Institute. Our leaders, and our Hatha Yoga master teacher guests, have provided challenging opportunities for self-study and growth. I am particularly grateful for the 200 hour teacher training Iyengar-based program that I completed in 2006 with Francois Raoult. The combination of these two programs has deepened my practice & teaching approac...h on so many levels. I am also grateful for the intensive training programs I have received in Restorative Yoga (Relax & Renew by Judith Lasater) in 2007 & 2009), and an IYT accredited Warm Water Yoga Training in 2016 with Terry Roth Schaff. I love teaching again at Shoppe on Main in Newfane after being away from the area for 10 years. I remember the day clearly, when I first met Sue Neidlinger. I had just completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training session at Open Sky Yoga with Francois Raoult. I was ecstatic about the masterful training I had received and was chatting away with Sue about how excited I was about getting started as a yoga teacher. As most people know who adore Sue & her can-do attitude, she wa...s ready to offer her store as my first yoga studio site. When she mentioned her store & I looked around at all the crafts & artworks displayed on every shelf & every inch of flooring....I asked, Yes, but where? Without missing a beat, she said Right here! We can move everything aside & make space for your yoga mats & equipment. As they say... the rest is history. Now, 10 years later & many additional years of training & teaching behind me, I am happily back with my peeps enjoying my time sharing yoga with a receptive community. Now, when I roll up the mats, stack the blocks, fold the blankets, and push big yoga bolsters in under shelve spaces filled to capacity, I just smile & remember that my right here space is everything I need to share meaningful moments for Yoga Right Here Right Now.
