I never go into a session with expectations- especially with young children! Even though this isn't the "perfect portrait" where everyone is sitting perfectly and smiling for the camera, I wouldn't have it any other way. These girls were very busy little bees. This photo is who they are and (to me) that's perfection. Furthermore, this image is exactly how I feel when I am with my children (I know many other parents feel this way, too). I constantly feel myself staring at th...em off in the distance- thinking to myself- "Wow! I can't believe they are all mine. My body created every single piece of them." P.S. I love spring because it's the beginning of new life: The flowers on the trees are blooming. The birds are chirping while they await the birth of their new hatchlings. There are babies being born all around us. It's a fresh start! What I don't love about spring is that I'm a sufferer of seasonal allergies in a bad way. Good morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and an even better Mother's Day. I tried posting yesterday but FB was giving me grief. I am here now, though. First, I want to thank Becca Sutherland Photography - Buffalo Wedding Photographer for these amazing photos of me and my littles. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mom. When I was a child I was kind of a tomboy. I loved throwing the baseball around with my siblings while sporting my favor...ite baseball cap- backwards. Always backwards. I vividly remember rummaging through my clothes to find the best shirt that I could fashion into a mask so we could play ninjas in the dark of night. We would get lost in the corn field and climb the highest of trees on hot summer days. I also remember playing house and always wanting to be the mom. We would take the baby clothes from my younger siblings and dress up all the baby dolls and stuffed animals that we could find. It wouldn't be until some years later that I would get to fill those shoes and, if I have to be honest, my childhood vision of motherhood was waaaay off! Being a mom is the hardest but most important thing I will ever do in my life. They challenge me on the regular. Some days they make me want to drive out to the biggest field and scream at the top of my lungs, and other days I want to just squeeze them so tight and never let them go. My youngest said we could snuggle until he's 50, so I have that going for me. When I had my oldest, I would look to other parents for guidance on how to be a good mom. It wasn't until I had my 2nd and 3rd that I would realize that me just questioning if I was doing it right meant I was doing it right. The most important thing you can do for your children is to love them. Happy Mother's Day....a day late.

When I'm photographing a session I have a pretty good idea what keeper shots I got. The ones I'm not always sure about are ones like these: Funny moments that make you wonder what they were doing. This one looks like little sis let one loose and has NO shame. Actually, it looks as though if she did, she was pretty proud of herself.
