Good Afternoon Everyone! Marist Athletics has FINALLY uploaded the FINAL VOTE for Game of the Year! Thanks to all of your constant support we have the opportunity to win Game of the Year and, ultimately, to make huge waves in the Marist Athletic community. After losing our last season the entire squad is hungry to win the only public form of competition we have seen since last Fall. Winning this would mean a ton to our squad and lift our spirits from the recent cancellation ...of the upcoming Fall season. Please vote on Instagram and Twitter, and don't forget to send this to anyone who would be willing to give us a vote! The grades are in! Exceptional performances from our teams despite new challenges this spring!!!
A great moment this week as Red Fox legend Bob Sneeden, "Snidely" to his mates was released from the hospital while he continues to recover from COVID-19. Bob was a Marist Oarsman Class of '75 and is a Founding Member of the Red Fox Navy. We also want to recognize fellow Red Fox Maureen "Reene" O'Neil Class of '79 who was a nurse in Bob's ward at the Hackensack Hospital and kept an extra watchful eye on him for us. Bob's being in treatment created some traffic of old team mat...es sharing some memories from his rowing career including this gem: Bob competed in the 1970 Jr World Championships where he represented the USA in the mens 1x. Bob, who took 4th place, was the highest placing US athlete in this event for over 40 years after Jim Deitz won it in 1967 and until Clark Dean finally won it again in 2018. After the grand final, Bob went to hand his jersey to the winner from West Germany who was a 6ft4or5 200lb+ Monster. The guy was so impressed with Bob who was only 5ft10 and no more than 165lb that he gave him his own jersey. Bob's mom had to take it in several inches just so it would fit him! Shout outs to George Connelly and Bob McAndrew who have been leading the charge in our effort to help keep tabs on Sneeden and help bouy him during his fight. Also a quick shout out to Bill Zabicki '66 who is hard at work recovering from a heart attack this winter as well as Stan Bechetti also '66 who is recovering from a stroke in December. Feeling thankful this week For good medical outcomes and wishing all of our Red Fox family members, young and old, health and happiness in these trying times.
