As we go into Memorial Day weekend, we want to thank all of those who have served. This past fall, the CEPA Gallery, located in our Market Arcade building, fea...tured the work by 36 veterans, most of whom have served since Sept. 11, 2001. The veterans each participated in a three-month photography workshop, a partnership between the CEPA Gallery and the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY, designed to give them an outlet and to help them cope with the challenges of being back in civilian life. One of our Masters of American Architecture docents, Janine, chose The Market Arcade as her building to highlight. Why This Building: "I Love the Market Arcade... building. It inspired me to stay at this fabulous hotel in Cleveland (Hyatt Arcade) recently...this is a national landmark dating to 1890 (Architect John Eisenmein and George Smith). Wow- it is like the Market arcade on steroids." Fast Facts About the Market Arcade: Designed by Green & Wicks & completed 1892 Made of Terra cotta & Roman brick Stands out because of its incredibly ornate Beaux-Arts details including of course a Bison at each entrance. The Gallery Umberto I (1890) in Naples and The Burlington Arcade (1819) in London were suggested to the architects as models. The building functioned as a cut-through from Main Street to the popular Washington Street Market. Sinatra and Company Management (SCM) continues to stay informed about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. If you have any questions about protecting yourse...lf from COVID-19 in your community, you should contact the local health department or the CDC. Residents should assume all people and places you come in contact with could be a source of exposure to COVID-19. We encourage residents to use common sense measures such as: Follow your local news, local health department, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2019 Novel Coronavirus website for additional updates and information. Stay alert for known exposure to, and symptoms of Coronavirus, and follow any self- quarantine and health care directives from your health care provider, or the CDC. Use good hygiene practices at home, and wipe down any sources of contamination such as individual unit doorknobs, mail slots, or mats. To reduce risk of resident exposure to COVID-19: SCM has been in contact with local health officials, and national industry authorities for recommended protocols related to multifamily and commercial building operations. SCM has increased cleaning activities, prioritizing the disinfecting of common areas, including, but not limited to: All high-touch areas such as faucets, door handles, desks, chairs, dog bag dispensers, package lockers, leasing/business offices, mailboxes, laundry rooms and other areas that residents and guests access, with EPA-registered cleaning agents. SCM has ordered the prioritization of work orders to urgent maintenance requests only in order to reduce chances of cross-contamination; SCM will notify you when routine service requests will be available.
