A Design that will utilize the site, existing log structures and existing infrastructure. The Design Concept could be looked at (and possibly built) as four parts, which all bind together to form a holistic aesthetically beautiful, and functionally workable, ‘homestead’ complex. 1. EXISTING HOUSE, Second Floor: The existing log foot-print is a perfect square. By removing the existing roof, and replacing it with a ‘cross-form, four gable’ roof with 45% sloped cathed...Continue reading
. One of the modest historic houses on Main Street in a small Central Catskills New York town from the 1850’s was refurbished from it’s neglected state, and transformed into a comfortable home and garden. . An Office is conveniently located looking out to the large front porch; the furnishings are contemporary, casual, natural, and collected from world travels; the Kitchen, floors, and draperies are sunshine yellowlending a golden glow to the interiors. . A Garden Room ...was added to the back to provide more closets; a place the over-winter plants; and a relaxing breakfast room. A cozy Bedroom was installed in a formerly uninsulated shed, with an existing window connecting to the Garden Room. . The Garden, which extends back to a stream, was fenced, hedged and edited to make ‘rooms’ with a container garden, perennial border, and wild garden areas.
Designed as a concept for a high quality residence planned to be built on Bellaire Mountain in multiple numbers for a large Hotel / Residential / Recreational Development. The simple floor plan and the energy efficient insulated concrete exterior walls will make the house meet 'green' building guidelines and ease of construction for many units. The design of the low sloping 'green roof' will make the structures blend into the forest. The entire length of the interior is lit f...rom above by a continuous clerestory skylight. Built into the slope of the mountain... simple and elegantly proportioned and detailed... these houses will appear to both grow out of, and hover above the forest floor.
A 100 year old barn was transformed into a comfortable residence with great style by keeping the integrity of the original cathedral-like spaces, structure, and materials. Four levels are tied together with the original plank stair, and new windows are organized to fill the living, dining and kitchen areas with light.
Increased the spatial flow of this 3000 sq. ft. apartment by opening up walls and creating a continuity of detail and materials. Designed all new appropriate and flexible lighting and furnishings. Obtained local Government and Building approvals.
