Your Daily Dose! New Year, New me (it’s all in how you look at it). Setting New Year’s Resolutions gives you an opportunity to evaluate some of your life choices during the year. While many continue with yearly tradition of reflecting and setting new resolution, others have opted out of this tradition. ... Traditionally, in my home growing up, New Year’s Eve was very exciting. We would order late night Chinese take-out and while we were eating my father would take out the sealed envelope from his bureau draw that held all of our resolutions, we wrote the NYE before. We would read them aloud and laugh at what we did not achieve. Then we would all write new ones and put them back in the envelope and back into my father’s bureau draw until next NYE. Then we would watch the ball drop and bang pots and pans out on our deck or light sparklers at the strike of midnight. Very fond, nostalgic memories of mine I would not ever change. By definition, resolution is a form of the word resolve, derived from the Latin resolvere, to loosen, undo, settle. Further, it means the sense of an explanation or a solution to a problem or a conflict. For me, I stopped making New Year Resolutions about 4 or so years ago, as I realized I did not stick to them fully. Some resolutions I may have only partially achieved and others I flat out did not even do. So, one New Year’s Eve I decided to flip this tradition around and change it to where, I would live positively through personal growth. Instead of looking at what I didn’t accomplish I began looking at my personal growth. Game changer! Let me know down below what your tradition is at the coming of each New Year.
