We must get proximate to suffering and understand the nuanced experiences of those who suffer from and experience inequality. Stevenson believes that if you are willing to get closer to people who are suffering, you will find the power to change the world.Stevenson reminded us that being proximate and user-centered is not just a means to designing better processes and products. We must be willing to do things that are uncomfortable. Stevenson observed that fightingsometimes in vainfor the rights of some of the most downtrodden members of society can feel uncomfortable. However, there is restorative power in doing so. Through his often-heartbreaking work, he has realized that he is committed to working for equality not only because he wants to fix a broken system, but because he recognizes his own brokenness in the brokenness of those he serves. Yesterday was fun....possession of controlled substance case was on for a probable cause hearing, instead client obtained sealed non-criminal disposition! Another client received a cell phone ticket...the worst!! ( 5 points, no plea bargain (usually), increased insurance premiums, and permanent mark on your driving record), was able to obtain a 0 point traffic infraction as the ticket was filed in the wrong court!

One court appearance and all Penal Law charges against a client dismissed. Does it matter how the case is dismissed? You bet! Sometimes a criminal charge is dismissed in satisfaction of other charges, sometimes after 6 months (maybe you have heard of an ACOD), and sometimes dismissed and sealed right away. How to know the difference? Get a lawyer who knows what they are doing!!! ..... And yes, we are open for business! 100% criminal defense ...that means.... NO!!!! Is the answer to the question: can your divorce lawyer handle your DWI....would you go to a foot doctor for your brain surgery!?!? Nassau County’s strict DWI policy is well known, for most of these cases plea bargains are not offered. This was one of those cases, the DA refused to offer a reduction of the charges. Facing a criminal conviction, a client selected Mary to conduct the DWI trial. We are happy to report a Nassau County jury acquitted this client of the crime of DWI, finding the evidence supported only the lesser traffic infractions. We love when clients are up for the fight! And we are honored and grateful for the trust and support of our clients!
