This is a great article. I see people who train and also personal trainers post photos or videos of themselves doing either. Form is everything. Especially if you're going to pack on the load. Here's the difference between the squat and deadlift because clearly or maybe folks don't watch themselves from the side(?) and when I see their photos or videos (especially of their "deadlift") I'm thinking, "how is that NOT a squat?" It comes down to this, if it cannot be done in proper form, it just cannot be done. Lower your load and work on technique. We all want to be strong, but don't we all want to be injury-free as well? Don't say I didn't warn you! There's a reason my people see me and it isn't just because I can lift heavy. Technique and form. redefiningstrength.com/squat-vs-deadlift/

I wish folks knew what they are doing when they train. Whatever your sport is. I'm grateful to have the people I have in my life that are professionals in their sport and point out what I'm doing wrong and how to improve. I'm a fitness professional, but it doesn't mean I know all about it all. Which is why is good to stay humble and open to constructive criticism so improvements can be made. It legit hurts my body when I see people lifting heavier than they probably should be...cause poor body mechanics. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Core work is important. So many people do movements improperly just to bang it out. But what are you gaining from it if you're doing it incorrectly? Even when I train people I make corrections for them because I want them to get the most out of each movement. Even if it is just bodyweight movement. Remember, quality over quantity. Watch yourself in the mirror or have someone who knows watch you. Also, educate yourself about different types of cardio exercises. You will burn the most running. On average, 100 calories are burned per mile. Think about what your body is doing during each movement and how much energy is spent....if you understand the science of it. Running is one example. Those GPS watches are an average of daily energy burned. Meaning, on average I burn 1500 calories a day, but in reality if I run 4 miles (I burn close to 500 cal in a 4 mile run) and 1 hour of boxing (I burn close to 400 cal in am hour) I'm actually burning a lot less and am extremely mindful of energy in/out for that day. Please do not go by those watches. They are far from accurate regarding calorie burn for the day. Everyone is accountable for themselves. Blaming anyone else for fall backs isn't the right thing. Takea look at everything and see where improvements need to be made. We all need them. If you think you're stuck because of something, take a look at what you're doing. You may need to hit the pedal to the metal and increase the fire. #personaltrainer #fit #fitgirl #yayfitness #youareaccountableforyou #life #love #thankyou See more

Hey everyone! How's everyone been doing in the new year thus far? For myself, I recently started tracking my foods again. I kept asking myself why I wasn't dropping these few pounds I have been working so hard to shed these 2 months. 2 lbs in 2 months isn't much. I saw where I was going wrong and adjusted accordingly. That's what's so amazing when you have fitness goals. Whatever they may be. The tools are there for us to use. How healthy do you want to be? How much weight d...o you want to lose/gain? Do you want to maintain current weight? How many calories are you taking in per day and within those calories, how much nutrients are you getting-- proteins, carbs, fats, etc? I'm super happy I'm getting back on track. And I hope many of you are as well. Healthy livng begins with you and what you put in your body daily as well as how much exercise you're doing daily. As we get older, it only gets harder to drop weight, boost the metabolism, get that heart rate up and working pumping blood where it needs to go, build muscle mass, mobility and flexibility become harder. It's not impossible. Nothing is. But the sooner you start, the sooner you'll feel better. If you have goals, please reach out and let's work on them! If you plan to have a healthy, happy, long life, it all begins with you and how well you take care of yourself. It's never too late to start. Be mindful, honest, and self-aware. Don't give up on life or you!! See you soon! See more
