Theory of Knowledge juniors stand on the tables to get a different perspective of the classroom. The lesson focused on how we use our senses to gain knowledge...but what really matters is how we perceive and interpret that sensory information.

On August 23 and 24, the IB faculty completed two days of training on Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL). ATL are deliberate strategies, skills and attitudes that permeate the IB teaching and learning environment. The IB believes that a large influence on a student’s education is not only what you learn, but also how you learn. This means teaching transferable skills - skills that prepare students for life beyond high school. The IB teachers were asked to plan a un...it that focused on the ATL transferable skills, as well as higher order thinking (asking questions that inspire students to think deeper). This incredible group of teachers included Mr. Michael Violi, Mrs. Carrie Thomas, Mrs. Diane Acton, Mr. Joseph Boyle, Mr. Gregory Paquin, Mr. Kristopher Covell, Mrs. Jodi LaGarry, Mrs. Cristina David, Mrs. Rebecca Violi, and Mr. Michael Dabiew. On Sunday, May 29th, the full IB diploma students and I hiked Azure Mountain. As part of their environmental CAS project, we carried rocks from the bottom to the top. It was a hot, humid day...but we had a great time!! ~Mrs. Normile
