Day 1 of new group training program! 8 participants!

Reminder: Group training program starts tonight at 7:00pm! Must be there and ready to participate by 7:00 sharp! Come early!

Hi everyone. Just got a message from the school asking us to cancel table tennis next Friday, 2/21. They are going to wax the floor on Thursday and it needs 72 hours to dry. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is something that will benefit all of us as it will make the floor less slippery and much nicer to play on.

Starting next Monday (2/17), we’ll be trying out an exciting new group training program at MatchPoint Table Tennis Center! The best way for players to improve their core skills is NOT by random hitting, playing games, or doing endless crosscourt warm-up drills; it is by intelligent and focused training! Here is the basic idea of how the program will work:... - At the beginning of each session, I’ll explain what we will focus on, what drills we will do, etc. - Players will be assigned to pairs to do drills - One player will focus on the skill (e.g. loop, serve return, footwork, etc), while the partner will facilitate the drill (e.g. feed balls, block, serve, etc) - After 10 minutes, the players will switch; so each player will take equal time both training and helping their partner to train Additional details: - Players of all skill levels are welcome - The training session will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00pm-8:00pm. - Beside the regular open play fee, no additional payment is necessary - No advance registration is required - Players wishing to participate must arrive before 7:00 and be ready to start at 7 sharp! - Up to 9 players can participate in the group; first come, first serve! (no pun intended) - Depending on the number of players participating, we will designate 1-3 tables as training tables to be used ONLY for training Players who don’t participate in the training group can still use the other tables for open play. Also, after 8:00, the training will be over and there will be open play on all 6 tables. Feel free to leave your questions/comments!

Reminder: we will be CLOSED this Friday, 02/07, because I and some others will be in Ohio for the $3000 Presley Financial Architects Open at the SDTTA. We are open Monday and Wednesday this week.

I’m playing Friday and Saturday (spending the night); who wants to go with me? Great chance to meet/play/watch some of the top-ranked players in the USA!

I sent out an email to our list earlier, but I just want to remind everyone that we are expecting a group of 7-10 players from Rochester tonight. Please come if you want a chance to play with some players from out of town. However, if the gym is crowded tonight, please be prepared to play some doubles! ;-)
