Mateen Ahmed 06.12.2020

Mateen Ahmed went to school in Peshawar, Pakistan on December 16, 2014, expecting the day to be like any other. By the end of that day Mateen had witnessed one ...of the worst terror attacks recorded as 148 students, teachers and staff were killed. Over 100 others were injured. Many of the victims and injured were close friends of Mateen. Mateen is now a foreign exchange student at Indian River High School. He came and talk to our students today. He walked them through that terrible day and told how he was able to survive the painstaking hours before he was rescued. He talked about the bad name that terrorist are giving to his religion. Mateen is convinced that the key to solving the terrorism problem is education. In addition to his studies while he is here, he has been speaking to groups of all ages about the attack and the need for change to conquer terrorism. The whole student body at Potsdam High School attended Mateen's presentation. After the presentation he answered questions from students and staff. Many students stayed after the presentation to meet him. See more
