Our final Wednesday Webinar Series of the semester is happening on May 19 with Dr. Luis Leyva, assistant professor of mathematics education at Vanderbilt University - Peabody College. In his talk, Dr. Leyva will unpack instructional mechanisms of inequality as he presents findings from a study of historically marginalized students and their perceptions of racialized and gendered features of calculus instruction. In light of the recent rise in anti-Asian hate crimes as well as the upswing of the Black Lives Matter movement, a group of teachers in the Asian American Educators Affinity Group at MA wrote an #MfATeacherVoices piece about the evolution of their Asian American identities. We’re thrilled to begin accepting nominations for the 2021 MA Muller Award for Professional Influence in Education! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Muller Award was postponed, however, all nominations submitted in 2020 will be considered in 2021. The MA Muller Award is awarded to two MA Master Teachers who have influenced the teaching profession in exceptional ways. Winners receive $20,000 and nominators receive $5,000 for their school or organization. Learn more about the award and nomination process at the link below.
