The stigma or sense of shame that is often experienced by survivors of suicide death can make it difficult for adults as well as children to find people who the...y can safely share their feelings and experiences with, without feeling judged. If you or someone you know is grieving the death of a loved one from suicide, read the Highmark Caring Place’s article Supporting Children & Adults after Someone Has Died by Suicide. It is filled with ways to discuss the death with children and tips for living after a loved one has died by suicide. Feel free to view it here or on their website at https://www.highmarkcaringplace.com//pdf/suicideSupport.pdf. See more

There’s no timeline for grief- especially when you lose a parent at a very young age. My son was 4 when he lost his dad, and rarely speaks about how this has affected him. Just the other day, now 16 years old, was fighting back tears when talking about how different his life would be if his dad was still here. It can be a little awkward for kids who’ve lost a parent to be around families with two living parents during these types of holidays. Here are some great tips about compassionate ways to handle such situations for someone wanting to help. https://www.parents.com//things-not-to-say-to-my-grievin/
