The Design and Construction of the Maxfield Inn Historic Garden Arbors

In 1900, Denny & Mary Maxfield designed and built a very elaborate Master Bedroom Suite consisting of the Large Sleeping Room, a Nursery, a walk in Linen Closet, a walk in Clothes Closet and a large Master Bathroom. There was even a separate entrance for the servants! Over the past 25 years this design was significantly altered to create the B&B. The original bathroom was torn out - we spent the last 2 years putting it back.

The Maxfield Bank room was converted into a Swedish Kitchen in the mid 1970's by Ulla and Sten Perssons. Sten was an Electrical Engineer from Sweden and was involved in the development of the microwave oven with Raytheon. This kitchen had one of the first microwave ovens in America. Ulla is quoted by saying that people wondered why she had a TV in her kitchen. All the cabinets are from Sweden.
