Spring has sprung, and our yearling chickens are beginning an eggstravaganza! These eggs are straight from the hen to you. Let us know if you’d like some. They’re free range, and fed only the best grain supplemented by our seasonal fruit as treats.

Feeling saucy this Monday! Lots of applesauce to be had over here! Although you can use any apple you want, some lend themselves better for sauce. This is a mix of Macintosh, Cortlands, Northern Spy, Idared, and Pink Lady. Tart, crisp flavor with nice texture from the Pink Lady. Some added spice from cinnamon and vanilla really sets it apart. All you have to do is cut the apples in chunks and let it do it’s thing. No need to peel if you don’t want. You can always strain them... out in the end. Also, it give the sauce a nice pink hue. Canning is traditional, but it keeps in the fridge in an airtight container for up to two weeks, or you can freeze in freezer bags for up to 3 months. Best varieties (For sweeter sauces) Gala Fuji Honeycrisp Golden Delicious Crispin (Mutsu) Best Varieties (For more Tart sauce) Macintosh Cortland Idared
This man’s collection of lost apples varieties. He has a website that you can buy saplings from!! This is a great way to fight back against corporate farming an...d the destruction of heirloom foods (which while usually ‘ugly’, are heartier, and more nutritious than store bought varieties, and more delicious). https://applesearch.org/
