Putting together a summer reading list? Interesting read and it will ,no doubt, strike chords with you.
Just because we have gotten some questions about donations through our website, we wanted to share the link with you. We have several options to donate electronically. Not good with technology? Don't worry, our Director Joe does not mind depositing checks! Thank-you for all of your support. $50 provides fresh fruit to 150 people. $75 pays for a tray of meatloaf that feeds 75 people.... $100 buys fresh salad for 300 people. $500 buys enough warm socks for us to give away this winter $2,500 pays our rent for a month
Special thanks to our Jersey Girl, (at least that was what was imprinted on one of the tee-shirts), who made a cameo appearance bringing a trunk load of warm weather clothes for our guests. Oh yes, it is verified, the trunk was of a car that did have Jersey plates!
A happy day to those volunteers celebrating today.
Our expert recycler! Thank you Junko!
Collaboration with other organizations is so much a part of what we do. Yesterday we were visited by Deirk (first on left) of Equus Youth Pathways and author of America's Official Job Search Manual. His organization needed some interview suits and we invited him to "shop" at our boutique. We also provided him some toys for the families of the job candidates or any organization for which he saw the need. As our economy slowly powers up, Deirk was so grateful for our assista...nce. He hopes to volunteer with his children, he has 11, which would be quite a group and another time with the great folks at Equus. I put him in touch with our volunteer coordinator. His agency was hoping to reach out to Nazareth Housing as well and I put him in touch with the Executive Director Mary Kay Orr. It is a nice feeling to be a tailor sometimes and stitch together the tapestry of New York's social service community. See more
We are never alone in our service ... we are part of a larger global community of service. Photos from La Gaité Lyrique courtesy of Food Bank Paris and Ile de France (Banque Alimentaire Paris et Ile de France). BTW did they borrow our coffee urn?
