We focus on rebuilding the core and pelvic floor and preparing mothers to get back into a workout routine that works for them. How many expecting or new moms are feeling the strain in their upper backs? Pregnancy can cause our breasts to enlarge and pull our shoulders forward causing rounding of the upper back. Breastfeeding can have the same effect, especially if we aren’t being mindful of our posture. The Open Book exercise is great to Incorporate into your routine to try and combat these aches and pains. Here’s how: 1. Start by lying on your side with your head resting on your bottom arm.... 1. Bring your top hand behind your head. Make sure those hips are stacked on top of each other and you aren’t leaning too far forward or back. 3. As you inhale, bring your top elbow down to the floor, and as you exhale lift that top arm up towards the ceiling and reach back as far as you can while maintaining those stacked hips. 4. Try 8-10 breaths on each side. These are just one of the many mobility exercises you can expect in our signature pregnancy class Strong As A Mother. Next class is this Saturday at 9:00am.
