She is the CEO and co-founder of the Cornell Advocacy Project (@theadvocacyproject__), a new student organization that strives to make an education in advocacy accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Earlier this week, the Meinig E-Board hosted a virtual chat featuring alums Brian Murphy ’16, and Kenny Zhou ’20. Both Brian and Kenny shared how their experiences with Meinig not only helped them to meet new people from different parts of the university, they gained valuable skills related to teamwork and communication as well. In addition to speaking about their Cornell experiences, the alums shared their perspectives on topics like deciding on a major, choosing a specific career path, and the transition from college to professional life. If you would like to discuss ways to stay involved with the Meinig Family Cornell National Scholars, please contact Jacinta Stark, [email protected].

Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead. Over the spring semester, Meinig Scholars have worked in teams to develop a training that defines values and attributes of specific leadership methods. Project teams presented their lessons earlier this week to other Meinig Freshmen and upper-class students, executive mentors and other members of the university administration via zoom. The freshmen presenters covered points like resiliency, leading teams, mentoring, and other skills and values related to leadership that can be applied to their student life and beyond!
