This young lady underwent successful gastric restrictive surgery for weight loss. She had a good outcome from her surgery, so she allowed her bariatric surgeon (not a plastic surgeon) to preform her abdominoplasty. The unfortunate result, a distorted midline causing tissue redundancy on one side, dog-ears on both sides from both error in judgment and lack of technical know how, upper flap lipodystrophy with a real cool Instagram groove carved in the midline to mimic a yout...hful depression, skeletonizing of umbilicus causing contraction of the stalk and scar disallowing shape and depth to be set to the abdominal wall and a muffin-top appearance because of upper and lower flap thickness disparity on inset. . You need to choose a surgeon who can show you lots of before and after photos, who you trust will take care of you and who you will enjoy to work with. Most importantly, board certified doesn’t mean certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
