What an incredible find!

Just a week ago archaeologists investigated the discovery of a 600-year old Buddha statue. The statue stands within a reservoir that was constructed in 1958, and it is believed that the water that covered it protected the carving from elements that would have worn it away. A recent construction project is responsible for the decrease in water level and the ultimate rediscovery of this remarkable piece of history. In addition to the 12-foot long statue the team discovered evid...ence of a temple that once stood beneath it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com//600-year-old-buddha-statue-

The Merrin Gallery is proud to announce our Fall 2016 Exhibition: Ancient Faces. Throughout history artists have sculpted, carved, and painted the human face as a means of honoring the portrayed person, and to rise to the challenge of capturing the human soul. It is no wonder that many cultures have devised their own unique styles to imbue the eternal media of ceramic, metal, and stone with human life and expression. These objects have been chosen not only for their beauty, b...ut for the power and strength they impress upon the viewer. As usual, The Merrin Gallery will be exhibiting museum quality objects. The show includes carefully selected sculptures from across the ancient world. Ancient Sumeria Ancient Etruria Ancient Greece Ancient Rome Ancient Mesoamerica Ancient South America Special Invite Preview Thursday Oct 20 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Open to the Public.
