ICYMI: Drs. Libassi & Levine were featured on NBC New York for their work to give Kassan Woods a new lease on life. On this day two years ago, Kassan was bruta...l attacked on a NYC subway and left completely blind. The subsequent pandemic and lockdowns made it especially hard for Kassan to receive access to resources and care a struggle compounded by his fear of navigating the city without sight. After reading about his story on Humans of New York, [Drs] invited Kassan to the University Eye Center to determine if he would be a good fit for a custom prosthetic eye covered by charitable patient care funds. A few months later, Kassan left UEC hand in hand with his fiancé Melissa and a new found confidence.
