#Happy #NewYear from all of us at MHANC! We wish you a happy, healthy and safe 2022!
The holiday season can be hard. Talking about it can help. #youarenotalone
Sometimes we all need to step back and take a break.
Reminder! The holiday season can be a wonderful and joyous time, but sometimes it brings its own unique stresses and challenges. Remember to take care of yourself! #holiday #holidays #mentalhealth #presents #billofrights #selfcare #emotions #December
For many people, the holidays conjure up a Norman Rockwell-esque mental picture of people gathered to enjoy food, friends, and family, accompanied by feelings of love, warmth, and excitement. But for others, the holidays can cause them to feel anxious or depressed despite all the decorations and festivities. Maybe family time is tainted by unwanted conversations or a toxic relative. Perhaps the holidays remind you of friends or family members who are no longer around to celebrate. And last but not least, some people don’t have anyone to spend the holidays with. For holiday-related mental health resources, visit mhanational.org/holidays.
Today is the day to make a difference for Long Islanders struggling with mental health. Throughout Long Island, our neighbors are struggling to recover from the toll of the pandemic. Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. "Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people -- sometimes in the most brutal ways possible -- it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice." - Transgender Day of Remembrance founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith

The #holidays can be #hectic & #overwhelming. The seemingly constant motion of the season along with added stress (from any number of factors) can make us struggle. If you are feeling overwhelmed and you (or someone you care about) needs extra support, there is help available to connect with. . . . @800273talk @crisistextline #suicideprevention #mentalhealth #veterans #prevention #suicide #sadness #depression #crisistextline #thelifeline
The 2020 theme of International Day of Persons with Disabilities is ‘Not all Disabilities are Visible’. It focuses on spreading awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent, such as mental illness, chronic pain or fatigue, sight or hearing impairments, diabetes, TBI, neurological disorders, learning differences and cognitive disfunctions, among others
For many, the holidays are a time when traditions help us connect to ourselves and others and bring us back to the memories that are part of our upbringing. This year may look a little different but these graphics have ways you can adapt during the challenging times.
