At the MKNHP our mission has always been to look to the future. We believe in environmental education and stewardship so generations to come can experience the ...same wild forests and biodiversity that we enjoy today. With the conservation budget of this country gutted and protective regulations rolled back, as well as deep cuts to arts and education funding--two other key components of our mission-- it is more important than ever that private organizations rise to the challenge of conservation. We take Covid-19 seriously, and while we are hopeful for a full season of in-person programming we will adjust as needed to keep everyone safe. We understand that this has been a challenging year and that not everyone is in a position to give. Our goal this Giving Tuesday is $1000, but we'd love it if you'd tell your friends, share our posts or even just say hello. Anything you are able to invest in our future is appreciated more than we can express. See more

Dear local home school parents. I have seen many people creating pods for shared learning responsibilities. I am willing to help. If you would like me to offe...r outdoor learning experiences for individual families of grade school/middle school students. Send me a message. We can cover anything in our mission such as botany, ecology, geography, art, etc. in a fun yet primitive fashion. See more

Looking for a volunteer or two to safely, socially distance, and assist with monitoring our Ash Tree Plot. Several years ago, we established a plot of 40 Ash trees that we monitor annually for signs of the Emerald Ash Borer (no signs yet, thankfully). The goal is to know the health of the tree if the borer does invade, and hopefully identify any resistant individuals for propagation and repopulation. Easy hiking, not too far, we need to measure and record the diameter and health of each tree. It is easier with a couple people. Email [email protected] if interested.
