NY Times Article cites big increase in deaths to motorcycle drivers and passengers in 2020. But pedestrian deaths have decreased. Fatality rates for accidents increased nationwide. While the amount of summonses issued in NYC greatly decreased overall, the amount of Speeding Tickets only decreased by a small percentage. As NYC and most NY State Villages and Towns will face budget shortfalls, can we expect an increase in summonses issued in ‘21?... Please call us with any questions about any ticket you receive in this State-any County-Putnam, Nassau, Orange, Duchess, Queens. Happy and Safe New Year to all.

Monday Daily News Article Regarding Congestion Pricing in NYC says it all. Cars driving south of 60th St in Manhattan were set to pay tolls, beginning in 2021. The collection of tolls will likely be delayed until 2023. The city badly needs the money.... Is there another way the city can raise money instead of congestion pricing?

Tuesday, Newsday reported on the increase in Traffic in Long Island during the past several months. The volume on the Southern and Northern State Parkways was only slightly less than it was in February, the last full pre-Pandemic month. Traffic Tickets were down 64 percent in June 2020 compared to June 2019. However, as anyone driving in Nassau and Suffolk can see, lately police have been posted all over the highways and the amount of summonses is surely increasing. Drivers s...hould obey Speed Limits on the highways and local streets. Do not hold your cellphone in your hand. If a Nassau or Suffolk Police Officer gives you a ticket , it may have serious consequences. Call us with any questions at any of these numbers: 516-546-8279 516-960-8436 212-227-9008

Last Thursday, a California Court ruled Uber and Lyft Drivers must be treated as employees, not independent contractors. Therefore, the companies must provide the drivers wages and benefits. California voters will vote on whether these companies can be exempt from these laws. A NY Times Article reported Uber and Lyft may appeal the court’s decision . An Uber spokesmen said they couldn’t afford to hire the drivers if benefits were mandated and many could be out of work. Will events in California predict what will later happen in New York?

Monday's NY Times Article pointed out the decline in tourism in NYC due to the Pandemic. It pointed out the impact on various industries- hotels, food, souvenir shops, and the Taxi and Ride App services. Specifically, it cited 71 percent decrease for Taxi and Ride App during the month of June. The Article stated the industry has begun to rebound. Has it? I really hope so.

NY Times reported that Seattle City Council approved minimum pay for Lyft and Uber Drivers beginning in January 2021. The law was based upon an NYC Law from 2018. A Lyft spokesperson criticized the law. Was the minimum adopted in NYC helpful to Lyft and Uber Drivers? Do you make more or less money than you did before the law was passed? Obviously the impact of Covid greatly impacts your income as well.... We stand with all Uber, Lyft , Yellow Cab, Limo and Black Car Drivers. See more

Same old Jets. NO!!!! The Same Old Jets usually has talent and always found ways to break our hearts. They might start a season strong and crumble- see Al Groh and Eric Mangini coached teams. Or they might start poorly, win a few games and then lose one they shouldn’t and then crash. But they usually gave us reason to watch.... This year, so far, nothing. Defensive coordinator Williams can’t overcome his lack of talent. There is no depth to overcome injuries to wide receivers and running back. And, the offensive game plan has shown no imagination. How many times can they run on first down. GM Douglas, fix this mess. See more

NY Times Article last week discussed NYC temporary 10 percent surcharge allowing restaurants to add to on location dining. Hats off to Nick Criscitelli the owner of DaNico Ristorante in Little Italy. The article quoted Mr. Criscitelli - Our Customers are all families...why should we charge them any extra. Indeed! Restaurants should post signs that give patrons the option of paying the extra 10 percent. And not automatically add the surcharge. Customers can make their own choice.
