Dental Implant case highlight: Crestal approach sinus lift This is an x-ray of a dental implant I recently placed in an upper back tooth site. The red dashed line represents a vertical anatomical limitation formed by the bony floor of the paranasal sinus (the air pockets behind your cheekbones that flank each side of your nose). The yellow line marks the sealed lift of the sinus membrane that I performed and lined with a particulate bone graft (the puffed white cloud shapes the between the red and yellow lines). This allows a controlled perforation through the sinus floor for implant placement of sufficient length. #dentalimplants #dentalimplantology #sinuslift #sinuslifting #doyouevenliftbro #doyouevenlift #nycdentist #licdentist #qbpdental #queensboroplazadentalcare #showyourwork

I love our faithful companion, Toby! Happiness for him is being close to us. No concept of personal space, but it’s ok when he’s so adorable .

Had some fun dressing up a bowl of instant Laksa noodle from @primataste for dinner. So filling and easy to prepare! Topped with cilantro and supplemented with soft boiled egg and shrimp.

Magic. I didn’t believe it when my patient told me her tooth gap closed by itself. She had been very self conscious about her progressively drifting and loose upper front tooth (due to localized severe periodontal disease) when she came into my office in Nov 2019 see top photo. I referred her to @drhsarmiento for periodontal management . The bottom photo is the result after scaling and root planing and meticulous home care - no braces, just gum disinfection and the tooth attachment tightened up. Notice the marginal gum tissue color is more healthy too - from red to pale pink. Magic is possible with the right team approach and patient motivation! #interdisciplinary #teamapproach #dentistry #periodontics #licdentist #nycdentist #teethcleaning #beforeandafter

Immediate vs. delayed implant placement for back (chewing) teeth. Immediate dental implant placement means that the cracked tooth in the first two photos was extracted and the dental implant was placed in the tooth socket the same day (immediately). This is as opposed to the delayedapproach showing last two photos where the implant is placed into a healed socket - usually anywhere from 12-24 weeks after tooth extraction.

After root canal treatment (left), vs. before situation with large black decay involving almost half of the tooth (right). Root canal treatment is almost always painless these days due to leaps of advancement in the technology and precision involved. When indicated, it is the best way to disinfect and retain a severely decayed tooth rather than just removing it.

Old metal-porcelain bridge (left) vs. new zirconia porcelain bridge (right). Sometimes dental bridges need to be replaced periodically due to recurring decay, receding gums, and/or increasing food impaction underneath. If possible, a dental implant tooth replacement would be much more sustainable and maintainable in long term.
