Here's something to do this weekend: The Western NY Artists' Group gallery (1 Linwood in Buffalo, plenty of street parking) is showing the Buffalo Society of Artists spring exhibit. Included in the exhibit is Spring Farm Basket and Fields. Although the farm basket in May contained food from farms further away than Western NY, the orchards of our region were in beautiful bloom with the promise of fruit to come. Oil on canvas, 16" x 20" x 1.5" painted all around. $740. www.michellemarcotte.com

2020 Paintings continued. With my painting Lonely Avocado on a Monday Morning, I explained the sad quiet of 2020,. But on the brighter side, I had time to make nice breakfasts. Here is "I had time to make French Toast". a mere but powerful 8" x 10" x 1.5" Oil on canvas. See this and my other paintings at www.michellemarcotte.com

This 2021 painting defines a big difference between the lives of my friends in Lewiston NY and my friends in Ontario Canada. It shows a tray of appetizers set on a sunny outdoor patio table (in this case, food from my sister's restaurant in Ottawa Canada 'Good Eats'). In NY, restaurants are open for dining inside or outside. In Ontario, however, people can not even eat in restaurant patios. Ontario has nearly the same vaccination rate as NY State, but most vaccinated people have had one shot only. Ontario is still in both lockdown and stay at home order. Very difficult, and at this point unnecessarily stringent in my opinion. (16" x 16" x 1.5" oil on canvas $560 www.michellemarcotte.com

Here is my next installment of the artists' 10 day challenge (which I admit is taking me longer than 10 days to fully accomplish). Here is, "Lonely avocado on a Monday morning". After a wonderful weekend of face time chats with my kids and grandkids, Monday morning when they all went to work and school seemed so quiet. My plate of a half avocado by itself in the sunlight through the kitchen window seemed to echo the quiet. (11" x 14" x 1.5") oil on canvas. See this and learn its price on www.michellemarcotte.com

Here is the final posting in my 2020 series of paintings, "Fields of Jam". My summer of 2020 was filled with anxiety and jam. I made over 80 jars of jam with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, almost compulsively, hoping I could meet with and give jam to my kids and relatives. In this painting raspberry, blueberry and strawberry fields lay below the resulting jars of jam that float upwards all sparkling with color and light. The painting at 24" x 30" x 1.5" painted all around essentially took me all summer to complete. $1580. See this and my other work at www.michellemarcotte.com

Good morning. Here is the next installment of my 2020 paintings intended to have your reflect on the positives of the covid pandemic (there are a few). This one is 'Be the Lime". Each time you look at this you will be reminded that one voice, yours, can make a positive difference in someone's life. Why limes? Have you ever spritzed lime juice on papaya or star fruit, in sparkling water or Canadian Club and ginger ale. A bit of lime livens things up! 12" x 12" x 1.5" painted at www.michellemarcotte.com

Artist challenge continued: As I continued to avoid grocery shopping in 2020, I found the farm boxes from Tom Towers farm outside of Youngstown NY to be intriguing and surprising. In May, when the fruit tree orchards were in bloom in Niagara County, I picked up this farm box, full of good things mostly grown in farms further south. "Spring Farm Basket and Fields" 16" x 20" x 1.5" oil on canvas. $704. See this and my other paintings at www.michellemarcotte.com

Another 2020 painting: At first I struggled with online grocery shopping and it seemed the shoppers had trouble doing the shopping too. Here is, "Drinking wine alone while contemplating the bizarre fulfillment of my online grocery order" (I thought I asked for 3 tomatoes and received over a dozen tomatoes of various varieties). 12" x 12" x 1.5" oil on canvas. Here is another installment in my 2020 submission to the FB artist challenge. When grocery shopping became challenging, farm produce stands became even more important. Here is "Road Side Farm Stand Carrots", oil on canvas, 11" x 14" x 1.5" painted all around the sides. $338. I like the humor of painting the carrots as if they are actually on the road like a racing car. See this and my other work at www.michellemarcotte.com

Here is another painting from 2020 reflecting how the covid virus has impacted our lives. Here is, "A vegetarian contemplates dining alone" (16" x 20" 1.5"). A nice place has been set for a meal for one, the cheery tulips giving counterpoint to the tension of the crumpled napkin on the side. See this and all my work and prices at www.michellemarcotte.com

Just finished, "Rose of Sharon in a Glass Vase". 16" x 16" x 1.5" oil on canvas, painted all around no need to frame. $563.00 Here is the painting of the branches of Nathan and Karen's Rose of Sharon tree. The painting is intended to uplift spirits in a dull winter, but the story of the flowers is one of living life to the fullest. This summer when I was visiting them, Nathan and Karen's Rose of Sharon tree blew over in a crazy windstorm. I cut these branches from the tree as it lay dying. Set in front of a bright window overlooking their yard, these flowers bloomed gorgeously. In the photos below I have included a studio view so you can see how I painted the canvas all around the sides.

Here is 'Sunday Trust' the painting that is part of the Biafarin Exhibizone online exhibit. They are a Toronto Canada online art marketing company. This painting shows a chicken and its vegetables ready for roasting, delicious colors enough to warm your memories of family dinners.
