Quick reminder that we're having an #urbangardening #volunteering event tomorrow, June 12th at 10am! We'd love to see you there, even if you're a complete novice. Meet us behind the courtyard behind Midtown Community Court at 319 W. 53rd Street. It's going to be partly cloudy with a high of 72F, perfect weather for making this city greener and more food stable! #foodsovereignty #urbangardens #volunteernyc

The Housing our Neighbors with Dignity Act (HONDA) was passed by both houses of the State Legislature and now awaits Governor Cuomo's signature to become law. It will allow New York State to finance the purchase and conversion of distressed hotels and vacant commercial office space into permanent affordable housing by nonprofit organizations to ensure every New Yorker has access to a safe and affordable place to live. https://commercialobserver.com//ny-senate-passes-act-to-c/

If passed, The Housing Our Neighbors with Dignity Act, Senate bill S5257A would authorize the state to purchase financially distressed or for-sale hotels and commercial offices statewide, convert them to apartments and sell or lease them to approved nonprofits for use as affordable housing. https://www.nydailynews.com//ny-oped-how-to-convert-shutte

Saturday, June 5, we harvested lots of greens (Arugula, Japanese Lettuce, various types of kale) and a couple of bags of radishes. About 25 pounds of food! I'll have greens to eat all week. We gave 8 bags of produce to the Morovian House, a very caring home for the elderly, and 8 bags to the Dwelling House, a women's shelter.
