Miller & Milone, P.C., employees and their families, the students of Island Trees High School, and members of the Seaford Broncos brought holiday cheer to more than 300 residents at eight facilities in Queens and Long Island. Gifts were purchased and distributed as part of the Firm’s 17th annual Adopt-a-Grandparent initiative. During the two-week campaign blankets, adult games, books, socks, scarves, radios, and other assorted gift items were delivered to residents. The fa...cilities visited were: Belair Nursing Home, Bellmore; New Franklin Center for Rehab and Nursing, Flushing; Grandell Rehab and Nursing Center, Long Beach; Park Nursing Home, Rockaway Park; Woodhaven Nursing Home, Port Jefferson Station; Queens Nassau Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Far Rockaway; Meadowbrook Care Center, Freeport; and Oceanside Care Center, Oceanside. James Nachamkin, Application Support Analyst in IT, who is also a professional saxophonist, played holiday tunes for residents of New Franklin Center for Rehab and Nursing. Adopt-a-Grandparent was founded by Miller & Milone, P.C. to provide holiday gifts to nursing home residents who are without families or whose families are unable to visit during the holidays. Eight residents were provided with gifts during the first event in 2002.

Over 130 lives will be saved as a result of new and repeat donors’ participation in the December 9, 2019 Blood Drive at Garden City Center. Hosted by the New York Blood Center, the drive resulted in 46 donations. James Nachamkin, Application Support Analyst in IT, won the American Express gift card raffle.

On Sunday, October 20th, Miller & Milone staff members, with family and friends, participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk to raise awareness for the prevention, detection, and treatment of breast cancer. The event, held at Jones Beach, was hosted by the American Cancer Society.

Miller & Milone, P.C., showed their support for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign by wearing pink on October 18th. As part of a yearly pledge to bring awareness to the disease, the Firm made a donation through its charitable foundation to the American Cancer Society. Staff members also participated in the 26th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh. The campaign raises money to fund research, disseminate free information, and support efforts to help reduce breast cancer risk with early detection and treatment.

The July 11th Blood Drive at Garden City Center hosted by the New York Blood Center was a huge success. The 64 pints collected exceeded the 45 50 pint goal. Nearly a third of the donors were Miller & Milone, P.C. employees. Both new and repeat donors volunteered to give the gift of life, making this Blood Drive one of the most successful! Erick Elias, Temporary Data Analyst in IT (pictured below) won the $50 American Express gift card raffle. His name was selected from a drawing of staff who participated in the Blood Drive.

On Tuesday, April 2nd Miller & Milone, P.C. showed its support for the autism community by sharing information about TACA (The Autism Community in Action). TACA lists resources and volunteer opportunities benefitting people with autism. A video entitled What Women with Autism Want You to Know was also made available for viewing. As is customary, participants in the Light it Up Blue campaign wore blue to show their support.

Miller & Milone,P.C. hosted its eighth annual St. Patrick's Day Greens, Jeans, and Beans Food Drive to help Long Islanders overcome the challenges of hunger. A Firm-wide goal of donating 500 boxed or canned food items was exceeded by 31 items. The Firm collaborated with Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) to disperse the donated food to hungry Long Islanders. Staff members also showed their support for the cause by wearing green and jeans.

Miller & Milone, P.C. staff members wore red on Valentine’s Day to show their support for the National Wear Red Day Campaign and raise awareness for heart health. The Firm made a donation through its charitable foundation to the American Heart Association.
