Children struggle with their emotions as they grow and even more so now with life being so uncertain in a pandemic. How they feel, physically, mentally and unde...rstanding what emotions are is very hard to communicate, so behaviour changes and verbalisation is often extreme. ‘ I hate you, I dont want to be here’ can often be the only way they can express their feelings into words and it is so hard to hear for parents and carers. By changing the way we communicate our own emotions and acknowledge theirs we can build a child’s emotional intelligence. All emotions have their place and children who can positively express them are happier and more confident in getting their needs met and understood.
