This holiday, we at the Mitral Foundation are thankful for continued support from donors and volunteers around the world. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to launch the Children’s Valve Project in 2019. Dr. Adams and the team at the Mitral Foundation wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.
We invite you to read the full story of 16-year-old Naika and many other young patients whose lives were saved by Dr. Adams and the Mount Sinai team. This latest update covers our May 2019 Mitral Foundation medical mission to the Dominican Republic. During the mission, Dr. Adams operated on eight children from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Adams leads a Mitral Foundation Medical Mission to the Dominican Republic to treat pediatric patients with rheumatic heart disease.
Photos documenting a 2009 Mitral Foundation medical mission to Vietnam. After obtaining a list of patients from local hospitals around Hue, Drs. Nguyen and Adams rolled up their sleeves and went to work with a clinical team that included anesthesiologists, echocardiographers, intensivists, perfusionists and nurses from Mount Sinai and around the United States. It was particularly meaningful to be there working with Dr. Nguyen, who has already brought so much back to the very hospital he was born notes Dr. Adams.
Once again, Dr. Adams brings together the world leaders in mitral valve repair surgery for the 2012 AATS Mitral Conclave Workshop. Preceding the 20th Annual Meeting of The Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery this year's Mitral Conclave Workshop focuses on Rheumatic Disease which is a leading cause of childhood mortality in developing countries. http://www.ascvtsbali2012.org/
