LIQUID GOLD! I was able to order one bottle of #purellhandsanitizer with an office supply order. I haven’t seen a Purell brand in a long time. It feels like a rare commodity, so I’m not sure if I want to use it. Should I put it into service, offer it for client use, or lock it in my drawer?

Did my first virtual arraignment on a NYC indictment this morning. Fortunately my client was able to work out the technical issues, and was able to video conference in. I don’t know how long it is going to take to dig out of this backlog, especially if there is another wave of Coronavirus cases. Thankfully, there was bail reform in January, which led to less people incarcerated. It probably would have been worse if this happened last year. #coronavirus #covid #criminaldefense #cjreform

Speeding, especially at 192 mph, is not smart after drinking, however speeding is not one of the cues of impairment used by police officers when pulling a driver over. Realistically, everyone speeds, so that alone does not mean that the driver of a speeding car consumed any alcohol. Although going 192 mph does demonstrate a higher likelihood of stupidity in the driver. #dwi #dwidefense #criminaldefense #speed

Unfortunately, pleading guilty to something in order to get out of jail is common. Often it is a problem that poorer people face because they can’t bail out. NY is currently addressing this with bail reforms to cut down on pre-trial incarceration. However, incident in this article is particularly egregious because he was trying to get out of jail to go to prison, due to the terrible jail conditions. No one should have to face this sort of choice.

Shocking, but not really to any criminal defense attorney. I've had countless cases where a search was based on an "odor of marijuana". It is good to have a judge really look at the case, rather than just rubber stamp a search as being legal. If more judges start doing this, perhaps it will become case law, and stop this ridiculous practice. #criminaldefense

It is amazing that one officer's inability to properly calibrate breath test machines, could potentially invalidate the test results in 20,000 cases. For all of my friends around Westchester County, tomorrow 6/25 is the democratic primary. There are several candidates in the democratic party running for county court judge. Overnight, NY lawmakers decriminalized possession of marijuana under 2 ounces. Which means that possession of an amount less than 2 ounces is a violation, not a crime. Unfortunately, full legalization was not agreed upon, but this is a step in the right direction. The laws regarding smoking marijuana in public, and possession over 2 ounces were not changed. #CJReform #decriminalization #marijuana #weed
