Congratulations to this year’s New Visions: Allied Health Partnership seniors and instructor Dr. Tracy Merrell for the successful completion of their Healthcare Symposium Project! Each student chose a different chronic medical condition or illness and spent months thoroughly researching it, eventually condensing that work into professional posters. The assignment allows students to experience presenting in a college research symposium format, where they shared their work with... people outside of their discipline and underwent both faculty and peer evaluations. #handonlearning #collegeandcareerready In the spirit of #operationcollaboration, the #cte Carpentry seniors designed and built custom stands to display student posters, which were brought to life by the #moboces Print Shop! Many thanks to our academic teachers and our administrators for supporting this new presentation format, and thank you to the high school principals from the region who attended the event to support their students!

#moboces Health Related Careers classes hosted a #StickItToStigma event on campus today in recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness Month. The event helped raised awareness of mental health issues and raise funds for two local agencies that offer mental health support services. Students created posters and displays on the Rossetti front lawn and inside the Courtyard and invited #CTE classes to sign up for a time slot to walk through the stations. HRC students at each st...ation answered questions and explained more about a specific mental health issues. Topics on display included substance abuse, eating disorders and mental illnesses. The classes used the occasion to bring out Captain Nice, students dressed like superheroes who spread kindness, and the Compliment Box, where students and staff can leave nice notes for others. They set up stations to sell bracelets, collect bottles and cans, and have a ball toss game, all of which would help raise money for Liberty Resources in Oneida and The House of the Good Shepherd in Utica. #mentalhealthmatters #handsonlearning #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
