The students of Cohort 4 received a lovely package from our program director Dr. Kestemberg which she sends out to our graduating students as they complete their degrees. This package contained a heartfelt letter, a card the students wrote to THEMSELVES at orientation 3 years ago, as well as books, a sand tray, Play-Doh and other small toys/figures to help them through their play therapy elective class this summer! Today, our Program Director, Dr. Laura Kestemberg, and our Grant Site Field Supervisor, Lori McAndrew, LMHC were able to explore the Mobile Health Clinic which is part of the Mother Cabrini Grant initiative. The van is a fully equipped Mobile Health Clinic and is ready to serve local communities offering access to a vast array of services including mental health and wellness. Ms. McAndrew is a clinical supervisor for the CMHC’s Mental Health and Wellness Center, and she will ...be overseeing the field experiences of 4 CMHC students: Dawn Lang, Mary Malinowski, Emery Phillip, and Doug Simonian, who were selected to represent the CMCH department. The students will be gaining invaluable experience by participating in community outreach events and will join an interdisciplinary team made up of the six departments including Nursing, Speech-Language Pathology, Social Work, Education, and Music Therapy. Initial plans for the CMHC students include offering screenings for anxiety, depression, and substance use. The students will utilize fun activities to educate the community about mental health and wellness topics while connecting attendees to local resources including Molloy’s Mental Health and Wellness Center. Dr. Kestemberg has been part of the leadership planning team and we are so fortunate that Lori will lead the students into this exciting new opportunity. The 4 students will be receiving an internship stipend and will each be expected to participate in ten community events. The CMHC students are planning activities for the community events as well as virtual workshops on mental wellness. Along with expertise in substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, and mental illness, Lori’s experience includes community outreach and engagement while working in a NYC Public Hospital. Her passion is in service to others, and she is looking forward to supporting the students in having a positive field experience as part of their internship as well as connecting underserved communities of Long Island to mental health services. #communitywellness #mentalhealthmatters #mothercabrini #automofeels #feelsonwheels

Congratulations to the Cmhc Molloy Graduates of 2021! After 14 months of remote connection we were able to congratulate this awesome group of students in person.
