To close for comfort Something I wrote and drew last year.. it’s relevant daily, so posting it again. White privilege is 100% real, whether you choose to believe in it or not. I’ve witnessed and experienced it personally over and over and will always be the first one to be open to feedback because I DO NOT KNOW what it feels like to be black in america. but I do know that I have privilege as a white woman so I will speak on that, anyday anywhere. Because my white fragilit...y is not more important than a black life, ever, period. Too close for comfort . What is normal? Normal is an experience that is confirmed by your community and environment. The moment I stepped out of my normal, I witnessed your normal. I watched my normal be challenged. I saw it be promoted and paraded. I saw it be used to keep you in your normal. And not a feeling of normal, but a daily experience of being disrespected, objectified, and lack of safety or security in my normal. Without a equal chance to step outside of your normal like I was able to choose. Theirs a name for my normal. White privilege. Gutted to think that I live in a world where I can choose to believe, or not. That you are the one that is punished for others chosen ignorance. Thank you to the past black heros and to the current- I’m in awe of you. I’m a work in progress to recognize and speak up, to get outside of my normal. To my white friends- why is it important for us to hold tight to a belief that white privilege does not exist? How does that belief serve us? What is a way your willing to step out of your normal?

Hi. How are you? I am open to listen anytime. If you didnt hear it today-you are a valued NECESSITY to this world. ESPECIALLY my black and brown friends. I love you. I’m sorry the world is so cruel. You deserve safety and security and celebration for all that you continue to be up against and still find a way to thrive and be leaders. Proud of you, I’m here for you, always.

Feeling grateful to pursue a career that has allowed me to think outside of the box. I started a mural today completely out of recycled makeup. On earth days, of all days I want to contribute something new and innovative to reduce waste and save our planet for generations to come. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Montana. My best friend took this photo right before I moved to Brooklyn. My buddy Luka took this today when the sun w...as shining and the cherry blossom in my front yard is littering pink throughout the street. Brooklyn has completely captured my heart, become my safe haven, my home. Grateful for the reminders from the beginning of my life to now that every life is sacred, every living thing has purpose and that we all get the opportunity to give back and advocate in our own unique ways. Love the earth, and the people who make it special @ BedfordStuyvesant, Brooklyn See more
