FIREMAN'S PRAYER When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage, give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age. Help me embrace a little chi...ld before it is too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, and quickly, and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling, and to give the best in me, to guard my every neighbor and protect his property. And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life, please bless with your protecting hand my family, friends and wife. Rest In Peace brother, you are home now.

They are just volunteers. This is true we are volunteers. We do this because we want to make a difference in our community, we do this because we care, we do this for free, We train many hours all year to do the job for free and when the whistle blows we just go and do it trying to keep someone else safe. When one of us dies we all feel it. This is a brotherhood like no other, a bond we all have paid or volunteer, Please bow your head tonight and pray for Rockland County Firefighter Jared Llyod and his family. Glad to see that most listened and stayed home during the snow storm. Remember that the ice may look thick but it has not been cold enough long enough to support weight, before you step on step back and make sure its safe. DO NOT DRIVE on the ice at this time..

A joint statement from Monroe Fire Department & Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corp. We would like to start off by saying thank you to all the agencies and Volunteers that have made these birthday parades happen during this pandemic. (Monroe Fire District which includes Mombasha Fire Co, Harriman Engine Company # 1, Lakeside Fire and Rescue Co & Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Now that the Hudson Valley is officially in Phase I, it means that a lot of our volunteers will start ...to head back to work over the next few weeks. Along with all the agencies listed above we have thoroughly enjoyed being able to bring joy to the residents of Monroe & Harriman with our joint birthday parades. Unfortunately all the agencies above have all agreed that mainly due to manpower issues, we will not take any further requests for birthday parades. We will honor all those already booked. We hope that we brought some joy to those who’s birthday it was and our community during these hard times. We thank you all for your support. Have a great summer and be safe! Thank you,

Here are the facts about our firefighters: We don't care who you vote for, what color your skin is, the language you speak or the religion you practice. We will come if you call no matter what time of day or night, weekday or weekend, holiday or not. Our job is to respond to help our community members and their families. We will run into danger while you run out. Take the time to wave, shake a hand, smile or say thank you, that's enough for us to keep going.

We ask all or residents to assist us in helping defeat the Covid-19 virus by informing 1st responders if anyone in the household if feeling ill so we can take the proper precautions, Remember that if we get sick and you dial 911 ,,, there will be no one to there to assist you.

We ask the community to remember that the emergency workers responding to your home have families also. If you or a member of your family is sick with flu like symptoms please let the first responders know when they arrive so that they can take the proper precautions.

Do you have what it takes..?

DID YOU KNOW? In NYS when you see a vehicle approaching with a BLUE or GREEN Flashing Light in your rear-view mirror it is a VOLUNTEER Firefighter or EMT respon...ding to either a Fire or Ambulance Call. These personnel need to get to the firehouse/EMS station or to the scene as quickly as possible to render the service needed in a timely fashion. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS and when safe to do so, PULL OVER, STOP and LET THEM PASS. Someone is depending on their help and sometimes seconds really do count. Thank you!! See more
