The 72st Annual MFD-VFW Fair 2021 is canceled this year. It is with great sadness that the MFD-VFW Fair Committee announces the cancellation of the 2021 MFD-VFW Fair due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance. While taking into consideration the most current guidance provided by the Federal, State, and County authorities relating to the requirements to reduce exposure, the leaders of the MFD-VFW Fair ha...ve determined that logistically we would be unable to meet those requirements for holding a public gathering the size of the fair. Therefore, the decision to cancel has been made. We look forward to seeing you again at next year’s Fair...on July 14, 15 and 16, 2022!! The fair next year will be a 3-day event (Thurs/Fri/Sat) in order to better align with the goals of the participating organizations and the community. Thank you for all of your continued support to this great community event.

Moravia Volunteer Fire Company would like to thank Kinney Drugs in Moravia for the very generous donation of a pallet of bottled water! Bottled water is critical for firefighters while on calls to stay hydrated and while training to respond to calls. Moravia Fire is grateful for continued support from Kinney Drugs in Moravia!

The Moravia Fire Department was toned out today at 12:47 pm to North Main St. for a fire going into the woods and a gully from a burn pit. The wind and dry conditions were not in our favor but we were able to get in front of the fire and stop it from heading east into the woods towards Oak Hill Rd. We started West Niles FD & West Niles FD for their Rangers but we were able to control the spread of fire quickly so they stood on their floor. (First 4 pictures from North Main St...) Yesterday at 11:22 am MFD was toned out for a brush fire at Lisa’s Lane off of Rockefellar Rd (Last 6 pics from that fire) Thank you to Locke FD for their assistance bringing water with there Tanker and Engine. This is the 3rd outside fire MFD has had in a week ****JUST A REMINDER THERE IS A NY STATE BURN BAN IN PLACE FOR A REASON. NYS DEC WILL BE RESPONDING FOR ANY OUTSIDE FIRE AND WILL ISSUE TICKETS & FINES. PLEASE DO NOT BURN AT THIS TIME.****

The Moravia Fire Department was toned out at 4:27 pm to an outside fire going into the woods in the area of Long Hill Rd. & Moravia Venice Townline Rd. Within 30 mins we were able to contain and extinguish the fire before getting down into a gully. 14 firefighters responded with Moravia Squad 1 with Ranger 1, Moravia Rescue 2 & Engine 1 with Moravia Car 4 taking Command and Moravia Car 2 taking Operations. Just a reminder that there is a NYS Burn Ban in effect.

Santa will visit Moravia on December 20, 2020. We will post additional details and specifics next week.
