*PPP Loan & COVID-19 Update* June 12, 2020 As a reminder to all our valued clients, individual & corporate tax returns are due on July 15, 2020. Quarter 1 & Quarter 2 Estimated Tax payments are due on July 15 as well. We are still able to file any personal tax return on schedule, please call us to make arrangements.... For our business clients who have received a PPP Loan: President Trump has signed a bill into law on June 5, 2020 which has changed some of the criteria for PPP Loan forgiveness. The forgiveness situation is still fluid and more changes and information are expected to be made within the next few weeks. What We Know - At least 60% of PPP Loan proceeds must be used for payroll in order to qualify for 100% loan forgiveness; previously 75% - The forgiveness period has been extended from 8 weeks to 24 weeks from the date of the loan, or December 31, 2020. - For any part of the loan that is not forgiven, the payback period could be extended to 5 years; previously 2 years. - If you received an advance from the EIDL program, the amount of the advance must be subtracted out of the forgiveness amount of the PPP Loan. *April 17, 2020 COVID-19 Update* Here are the latest updates regarding tax information relating to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as frequently asked questions: - 1st & 2nd estimated tax payments that are due on April 15 & June 15 have been delayed until July 15, 2020 for both Federal & NYS Tax. If you are paying state tax that is not NY, please refer to that state's website for information... - The stimulus checks that taxpayers are receiving from the IRS ($1,200 for Single, $2,400 for MFJ - within limits) are considered an advance on a refundable tax credit for 2020. These payments are NOT an advance on your tax refund, and are not taxable. - The Payroll Protection Program for small businesses has depleted its funds of $350 billion. If you have a small business, and did not get your application done on time, please have your information ready to apply. More funding may be available in the next few weeks. We are still working diligently to complete all tax returns in a timely manner as well as providing support to individuals and small businesses regarding monetary decisions. *March 21, 2020 COVID-19 Update* Here is the latest update regarding the tax deadline and our business operations: -The IRS has extended BOTH the filing and payment deadline for both Individual and Corporate Tax Returns to July 15, 2020. ... -NYS has also extended its deadline to July 15, 2020. If you are not filing in NY, please review your state’s latest update on its tax deadline and contact us if the deadline is different. -Accounting firms are essential businesses in NY so our office will remain open on a limited basis as well as working remotely. There will be no in-person meetings scheduled at this time, and we are able to meet via telephone or video conference. We are still able to file your tax returns in a timely manner. *COVID-19 UPDATE* The IRS has issued guidance allowing all individuals and corporate filers to defer federal income tax payments until July 15, 2020. However, tax returns should still be filed by April 15, 2020. We are continuing to work and are able to schedule meetings remotely.
