MORNING UPDATE We can't thank our community enough for stepping up to help when our team rescued 90+ cats from a house fire in Perinton early yesterday morn...ing. As of this morning, the cats have been bathed and fed and are receiving essential veterinary care in our clinic. Some have already made their way into foster homes and local rescue groups! Our team is still hard at work caring for this influx of cats and kittens, and there are a number of ways you can help, too. Thank you! Make a gift: .lollypop.org/get-involved/community-care-alert Send essential supplies from our Amazon Wish List: amzn.to/3dBk2v4 (You can also support pets in need by shopping at your local Pet Supplies Plus, or through our Chewy.com wishlist: https://bit.ly/2MXlpMn) View cats currently waiting for homes: lollypop.org/adopt

What'll be going on in your backyard this spring? Grilling, starting a garden, baseball, completing the honey-do list? #wishingforspring

TickSmart Tuesday's Tip of the day: TickSmart Tip#1: DRY CLOTHES FIRST - THEN WASH Most ticks are VERY sensitive to dryness. The very first action to take afte...r working in the yard is to strip clothing off and throw it in the dryer. Deer ticks are most susceptible, while American dog ticks, Lone Star ticks and other Amblyomma species are more robust. To be sure that each species achieves fatal crispiness, leave clothes in the dryer on high for 10 minutes. In our study, gas dryers got hotter than electric dryers, so you might want to add 5 minutes if you own an electric dryer. Believe it or not, ticks were not killed by washing, even in hot water. Clothing just left in the hamper or on the floor may put the next person to touch it at risk. Dry first - then wash. Don’t let the chilly evenings convince you that you don’t need your pest control. Mosquitoes stick around for longer than you’d think! #DontStoptheMoJo

Haven’t seen a tick in a month or two? Maybe you’ve stopped protecting your pet? thought tick season was over? Well, I’ll be tick bit. Or maybe more correctly,... that’s the fate facing your pet-like this one in Connecticut. Normally, adult blacklegged tick activity explodes in early October, but this one is a month early. Please protect your pets now. Ticks are coming! http://bit.ly/Ticknado See more
