Splints are important because they immobilize your hand and provide protection while it heals. Every hand is different and that's why custom splints are usually the better option. Who may need a splint? Here are some common diagnoses: - Arthritis and Joint Pain... - Tendonitis (Tennis Elbow and Trigger Finger) - Neuritis (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) - Muscle Strain - Joint Stiffness - Specialized Hand Surgery #Handtherapyweek #chooseMOTION

Nine different muscles move our thumbs and these are controlled by three nerves. That's just in your thumb! There's a reason certified hand therapists (CHT) need 4,000 hours of experience. #Handtherapyweek #chooseMOTION

MOTION would like to wish you and your family a happy and safe Halloween! Here are a few tips to avoid injury: - Use a backpack to gather your treats. A backpack helps distribute the load while keeping your hands free. - Wear comfortable shoes. Supportive footwear that fits properly will reduce the risk of losing your balance and helps walking long distances.... - Avoid restrictive costumes and masks. Costumes that restrict your full range of motion or masks that limit your vision will increase the likelihood of slipping or falling. Wear a costume that does not inhibit your movement or vision. #MOTIONPT #chooseMOTION #Halloween

October is National Physical Therapy Month! We invite you to share your PT story! When Joyce started physical therapy at MOTION, she was unable to walk even half a block due to imbalance/instability and had severe apprehension about falling even with the help of a cane. She was determined to regain her independence and dedicated herself to her therapy. Shortly after starting therapy, Joyce had to park three blocks away from an appointment. Although she kept her cane in hand, she surprised herself by being able to walk those three blocks and negotiate curbs without it. That success gave her a lot of confidence and, in turn, helped return her to independence. Keep moving, Joyce. We’ll see you on the block! #MOTIONPT #chooseMOTION #PTMonth #ChoosePT #PhysicalTherapyMonth #NeverGiveUp
