Rubys been practicing all her skills today!! Plus, we introduced Ruby to the car! Every board and train we have works on all their commands prior to leaving the house.. We want them to have the clearest understanding of the commands and mind state that we look for.. Then, we slowly bring them to more and more challenging environments! The car is like the magic carpet that connects the world's in between! We look for our dogs to be calm! In the house, in town and also in th...e automobile! Ruby has been rocking along!
Checking in on miss Ruby! Practicing some place command outdoors today! Soaking in the gorgeous sunshine Rubys just so dang cute
What you allow and what you do NOT allow is what defines you as a leader to your dog. It is the fact that you are making the choices and directing! Often times folks will ask "when should i play with my dog"? Well, we often times (depending on the dog) recommend that you try and use play as a reward! We want owners to reward things the dog was asked to do or a good choice that they made on their own.. For example, Ruby has been given freedom to explore and play AFTER our structure walk and recall session! This clearly defines the line between work and play!! Dogs need to have a clear understanding of this concept! This will allow for more involvement and inclusion in their future!
Thea is enjoying the last bit of her vacation! She had a blast today exploring, hanging by the water and taking in the views
What do you think relationship means to a dog?? Dogs want to learn and exist in the outer edge of their world. How far do the rules and structure reach? Well, i can tell you it all depends on who is driving the boat. If you speed down the road at 75mph in a 55 zone, your feeling pretty excited! Probably feeling on point and possibly even a bit exhilarated! However what happens when you see that police officer parked in the pull over area?? Like myself you would probabl...y first think about the outcome of what can happen, dial down on that volume, readjust your composure and lighten up on that lead foot.. The same goes for dogs! If the dog knows your a leader, or "the law" the dog will hold themselves more appropriately and be less pushy with whats being asked of them .. Dogs need structure, accountability and a consistent leadership!
